    @johanv The definition of prime that is commonly used is actually that of an irreducible number. Irreducible numbers and prime numbers are equivalent only when unique factorisation is true. This always confused me at school

      In that, ones intuition went to pieces when the teacher came along and pointed out that a simple extension to the integers caused what seemed so obvious to change.
