@nawi I Understand. I try and run Debian everywhere. Unless I cannot for some external reason. I run FreeBSD for zfs, on 3 machines for 30Tb useable storage. Indy.im is a Debian vps but the storage is exported to Debian xen hosts from a FreeBSD box. Backup is zfs snapshot. Im neither a Bsd expert nor gentoo.. But bsd always reminds me of gentoo. Lots a 'make;make install' and fetching of source code in the /usr/ports dir. Which reminds me of emerge. However I believe your fears around the path of Debian to be unfounded. Debian on the server and desktop will continue to both robust and stable.
