    I know. It's artificial scarcity. The hw manufacturers deliberately lower the spec, to limit its life. But then you see in a situation where you cannot maintain the software which has ongoing security issues.

    With kdm and lightdm I get a login manager. But gnome shell crashes.

    Debian Jessie. I restarted network-manager because I was doing some flashing of openwrt and didn't want nm in the way. There was a message that a gnome extension had crashed, so I restarted, and that was it.

    Gdm3 crashes, so swapped out for kdm. But gnome-shell crashes too
